![]() FibreAid's current manpower consists of 2 teams of splicers. Our senior technicians have all completed the FOA (Fiber Optical Association) course and are certified CFOT's (Certified Fiber Optical Technicians). The Fibre Optical Association certifies both of our senior team technicians as fibre technicians. In addition, our fibre technicians have completed the HUET and sea survival course and are certified to do work on-site in more challenging conditions such as on oil rigs and other vessels out at sea. Recently Justin Hartley became certified as an Advanced Fibre Characterisation Engineer, upon completion of a full course in the United Kingdom. He is the only fibre engineer on the African continent to be certified as an CFCE. Each team has a senior splicer who has a number of years of splicing experience behind him. The senior technician's duty is customer liaison, project management and to ensure work quality. Working alongside each senior technician is a junior technician whose function is to assist the senior technician where possible. Each team has its own equipment and teams often work together on larger projects. Because of the routine and systems we have in place when splicing on projects, we find that we have very few jobs that we have to return to for repairs. The training system that we have applied has worked well in guiding technicians to work efficiently, tidily, neatly and with a high standard. Thus far a few of our technicians have moved on to other jobs and are held in high regard by their current employers. Their skills and work efficiency, combined with correct project management would ensure the completion of installation, splicing and testing to our clients' satisfaction. In large fibre projects where there is a large volume of fibre to be installed, FibreAid uses local partners to assist. FibreAid likes to work with partners that have similar business values, and clients who believe in high quality of workmanship and have pride in their work. It is the responsibility of the technicians to ensure that their workmanship is of a high standard throughout the project. Any splicing or workmanship that is not up to standard will have to be redone. All work will adhere to the quality program set out as stipulated by the local quality control manager. Copyright
